Copper-catalyzed direct transformation of simple alkynes to alkenyl nitriles via aerobic oxidative N-incorporation

A novel direct transformation of aliphatic terminal alkynes to alkenyl nitriles through the incorporation of a nitrogen atom into the simple hydrocarbons has been reported. The usage of inexpensive copper catalyst, O2 as the sole oxidant, broad substrate scope as well as feasibility for “late-stage modification” make this protocol very promising. Mechanistic studies including DFT calculation de...

NBS mediated nitriles synthesis through C=C double bond cleavage.

An NBS mediated nitriles synthesis through C=C double bond cleavage has been developed. TMSN3 was employed as the nitrogen source for this Cu(OAc)2 promoted nitrogenation reaction. This transformation has a relatively high regio-selectivity to form aromatic nitriles.

Gold-Catalyzed Synthesis of Tetrazoles from Alkynes by C=C Bond Cleavage**

Cycloadditions of azides with alkynes to form triazoles under thermal conditions (Huisgen cycloaddition) or in the presence of copper [click reaction, copper-catalyzed azide– alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC)] are reactions of fundamental importance in organic chemistry. Triazoles can also be obtained by means of ruthenium, silver, and iridium catalysis, as well as by a zinc-mediated process. In sha...

Copper-catalyzed cyanation of aryl iodides with α-cyanoacetates via C-CN bond activation.

A Cu(I)-catalyzed cyanation reaction of aryl iodides with α-cyanoacetates is reported herein, which uses α-cyanoacetates as the nontoxic and easy-handling CN source through copper-mediated C-CN bond cleavage. This reaction enables access to aryl nitriles with an array of functional groups on the aromatic ring in good to excellent yields.

Transition metal catalyzed manipulation of non-polar carbon–hydrogen bonds for synthetic purpose

The direct addition of ortho C-H bonds in various aromatic compounds such as ketones, esters, imines, imidates, nitriles, and aldehydes to olefins and acetylenes can be achieved with the aid of transition metal catalysts. The ruthenium catalyzed reaction is usually highly efficient and useful as a general synthetic method. The coordination to the metal center by a heteroatom in a directing grou...
